Bobbling, Bulging, Bouncing Breasts Sexualize Breast Cancer Awareness

breast_cancer_awareness_boobs.png

Over at BuzzFeed, Copyranter makes a great point about a recent breast cancer awareness ad from Lowe Porta, Santiago writing, "So, the spot is targeting men. Fine. What do you think the number of male viewers who jerk off to the ad will be compared to the number of male viewers who actually ask a woman to get a breast exam?"

Clint Eastwood Advocates For Romney in New Ad

american_crossroads_romney_eastwood.png

In an appearance far less awkward and devoid of empty chairs, Clint Eastwood appears in an American Crossroads ad touting Governor Mitt Romney for President. In the ad, Eastwood says, "Obama's second term would be a rerun of the first, and our country just couldn't survive that. We need someone who could turn it around fast, and that man is Mitt Romney. There's not much time left, and the future of our country is at stake."

Agency Flips Pitch Process, Offers $100K in Services to Most Deserving Brand

jumpstart_infographic_bluecollarinteractive.jpeg

In advertising, we're all familiar with the agency pitch process whereby brands put out RFPs and agencies come knocking on the door with their best ideas. Well, one agency, Blue Collar Interactive, is flipping that process on its head with JumpStart, an effort which will offer $100,000 in agency services to the small business that demonstrates the greatest need for a marketing jump start.

That's right. $100,000 in agency services. Of the offering, Blue Coller Interactive Partner and Account Director Rob McCready said, "It has always been a goal for our agency to make connections with people who believe in hard work and have a clear vision and passion for their business. We realize that it hasn't been the easiest of economic times for business owners and entrepreneurs, so we want to help energize a passionate business that needs our help by offering $100,000 in agency services. We're looking for a unique and inspired business who offers a great product or service - a small dog with big fight."

LG Freaks Out Elevator Riders With Disappearing Floor

lg_elavator_floor.png

Seemingly to illustrate just how realistic its picture is, LG outfitted an elevator floor with a TV screen that made the floor look as if it were falling away. As riders entered the elevator and pushed their floor button, the lights dimmed and flickered, nasty mechanical noises are heard and the floor falls out from underneath riders.

Of course, all the riders are likely actors. For two reasons. They all get out on the same floor they entered. And, well, we're sure LG doesn't want a rash of people suing them for causing heart attacks. And, besides, these people just don't looked scared enough. In any event, interesting stunt.

Ryanair Cabin Girls, Zombie's Teach CPR, Celebs Dish Barney's

ryanair_2013_calendar.jpeg

- Ryanair is up to its old games again tantalizing travelers and taunting the Advertising Standards Burea with its new 2013 Cabin Girls Calendar.

- Barbarian Group has launched a new campaign for Pepsi using productivity startup TaskRabbit to give its consumers an "extra hour" in their day.

- Several celebrities are none too pleased with Barney's for depicting a few Disney characters as super slim models for a window display.

- Everything is zombie-themed these days. Why not a CPR effort. And, surprisingly, it makes perfect sense.

- Yo Gabba Gabba begets The Goon Holler Guide Book.

The Worst Halloween Ad You Will Ever See

chainsaw_psycho.png

Here is, perhaps, the dumbest Halloween-themed ad you will ever see in your life. It's cheesy, illogical and, well, just stupid. Yes, it follows the tried and true approach of people helping others when they really shouldn't but this effort is so lame you can't even get to the notion it's supposed to be funny.

Created by aftermarket additive brand Gold Eagle in partnership with crowdsource video company, Poptent, the spot, Chainsaw Psycho, aims to spoof the 1974 cult classic, Chainsaw Massacre. But all we get is further proof crowdsourcing always results in lame-ass, unprofessional work that should never see the light of day.

Non-Voice Mobile Usage up 51.9% to 82 Minutes Per Day

emarketer_time_spent.gif

A recent report from eMarketer has pegged non-voice mobile usage at 82 minutes per day for 2012, an increase of 51.9 percent over 2011's 34 minutes per day. This growth is in contrast to slowing time spent online with non-mobile internet connected devices. This year, eMarketer estimates time spent online will grow just 3.6% to an average 173 minutes per day, compared to 7.7% growth in 2011 to 167 minutes per day.

Sadly, marketers' adoption of mobile as an advertising platform hasn't kept pace with its growth. While mobile is expected to account for 11.7 percent of time spent online, its share of ad spend will hit just 1.6 percent.

Five New Laws of Content Marketing

five_laws_content_marketing.png

Ah, yes. Content Marketing. The current panacea of every marketer's woes. Snarky as that may sound, content marketing does, indeed, play an increasingly important role in today's marketing mix. Dovetailing nicely with social media, it provides brands a marketing method that is much less in-your-face and far more informative than traditional advertising.

A new whitepaper, part of the Adrants whitepaper series, from communications firm Moveo posits five "laws" that can aid brands stepping foot into content marketing waters. The whitepaper explores:

  • The relationship between content consumption and perishability
  • The mission-critical role of the content curator
  • The impact of source reputation on perceived quality
  • How agencies and brands can create compelling content
Download the whitepaper now to find how how your brand or agency can achieve the most from content marketing.
