Kellogg School of Management Seeks Handy Human BridgeBecause every self-respecting member of the working class needs a grinning well-dressed suit to wipe their boots on. Hey Dude, BYU Doesn't Wanna See Your ThongCowabunga! Gotta admire the strides Brigham Young University takes to protect the modesty of its Christ-centered scholars. Check out the policy on thongs and hemlines. BYU grad Dooce piously laments, "I would have loved to have cartoon turtles call me 'dude' and remind me that 'piercings aren't acceptable, bro!' Would have brought me closer to Jesus." See more here. Fully Clothed Obama Girl Touts Candidate Who Can DanceNoting the apparent inability of most politicians who simply can't dance, Amber Lee aka Obama Girl, wearing far more than her usual garb, urges us to note Barack Obama is seemingly one of the few politicians who actually can dance...which is why she is voting for him in the 2008 presidential election. We're not sure the ability to dance is an important criteria for becoming the President of the United States but we're not complaining. If Amber Lee wants to keep making videos, we're happy to keep watching. Agency Spy Gives Adrants A Nice Piece of AssAgency Spy is just catching up with the whole American Apparel "Gee, I wonder why women get raped" New York City billboard thing. We've had our say in interviews with Newsweek and The New York Times. While Agency Spy "verbally exploded all over" their cab driver after seeing yet another racy American Apparel billboard, we're just glad we can look at another piece of ass. Damn, that was mean, wasn't it? But thanks for that, Agency Spy. Wry Humor Eradicates Dull Pre-Flight AIrline VideoSomewhere there's an unwritten rule that pre-flight airline safety videos have to be dull, dry and utterly boring. Anomoly, working for Virgin America, thought otherwise when it created this witty, animated film that lobs subtle jabs at both th officiousness of airlines and the stupidity of some passengers without going over the fairly wel established line drawn in the sand regarding airline videos. Very nice work. We hope other airlines inject some wit into their boring pre-flight videos as well. Etology Ceases to Serve Ads to BitTorrent SitesThe online advertising company Etology has announced it will cease to serve ads to BitTorrent sites on December 1 claiming the sites pose a risk to their advertisers. In a letter to their customers, Etology wrote, "Due to the legal implications involved with sponsoring torrent sites, our management team has made the decision to remove from our network torrent sites that promote copyrighted content." At issue is advertiser association with sites that host/deliver/enable the sharing of copyrighted material and the potential lawsuits that might arise from such associations. The whole file sharing/borrowing/streaming/downloading thing is certainly a slippery slope and one that will likely see moves like this occur from time to time. RJ Reynolds Kills Print Ads in 2008, Bullshit SiftedFollowing intense negative reaction to its Camel No. 9 campaign which likened the brand to a fashion accessory, RJ Reynolds yesterday announced it would cease all print advertising in 2008. Downplaying the Camel No. 9 furor, R.J. Reynolds spokeswoman Jan Smith said the cut is "an effort by the company to enhance and sharpen the effectiveness and efficiency of its marketing programs." Hmm. We just threw up...a tiny bit...in our mouth. Getting more truthful, Smith added, "Obviously tobacco industry issues are in mind with every decision we make. A result of this is there should be less controversy over cigarette advertising in magazines and newspapers, because we won't be doing it." UbiSoft Bunny Burps, and ... Yeah, that's About ItThis ad is for UbiSoft's RayMan. For reasons we don't understand, a burping bunny invades the real world and gets lazy couch-welded human beings to get off their asses and pour shaken carbonated drinks into their mouths. It was on the front page of YouTube and we've watched it at least eight times already. This does not bode well for the future of the world. Visa Regurgitates Electronica; Lacks Rhythm, Leaves BluesThis new Visa spot by TBWA\Chiat\Day is called Rock It. The slogan: "Life takes rhythm. Life takes Visa." Like Visa's last attempt at holiday cheer, it's horrible and depressing. Infiniti M Ad Lacks Flair of Latin CounterpartsHere is an ad for the Infiniti M that is not very interesting (courtesy of TBWA\Chiat\Day). Where's the fire? |
