It's a well known fact that in many ads, men are portrayed as bumbling idiots. It's just payback for all those years Mad Men "put women in their place" by posing them in front of refrigerators, draping them across the hoods of cars and generally treating them like hysterical dumb blonds who were only good for sex and cooking dinner.
And so it is without surprise we have yet another ad treating men as if they just had half their brain removed and, along with it, half their IQ.

This is so cool. Coke has its Happiness Machines. Belgian snack brand Herta has The Football Machine. To tout their special Knacki FootBall snacks, the brand hooked up with Belgian football legend Leo Van Der Elst to create a vending machine inside which people could challenge Der Elst to a game.

Well that didn't take very long. One day after Uruguayan superstar Luis Suarez bit Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini, Amsterdam-based creative agency ACHTUNG! redesigned their original Suarez themed Pacman game Hapman to have a little fun with yesterday's incident. They've renamed the game BiteMan.
In the game, while running away from the Mexican referee as Luis Suarez, players need to "munch" through all Chiellini's before Marco Rodriguez catches them. have at it!
This is, by far, one of the craziest ads we have ever seen. It's for Austrian delivery service Media Markt and we are drawn into a world in which, well, everything is upside down. People walk on their hands and eat with their feet. And because their hands are busy doing all the walking, Media Markt is there to, ahem, lend a hand.

You blame your clients for killing your brilliant ideas. You blame the judges for awarding one of the highest honors to an ad that celebrates selfishness. You promise yourself you will leave the ad business and go where your creative brilliance is truly appreciates.

A panel of experts was assembled last week at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, who gave us their take on marketing to Millennials in 2014.
Entitled "Brand Purpose, Millennials and the Epic Creative that Engages Them," the panel included Quinn Kilbury, brand director for Newcastle Brown Ale at Heineken; Christina Smedley, VP of global brand and communications at PayPal; Bonin Bough, VP of global media and consumer engagement at Mondelez; and Scott Beaudoin, global practice director of corporate and brand citizenship for MSLGroup.
John Mescall, executive creative director of McCann Australia, was the standout expert from the panel. Mescall is best known as the man who came up with "Dumb Ways to Die" for Metro Trains in Melbourne, Australia. His campaign holds the achievement of most-awarded campaign in the history of Cannes, winning multiple Lions in 2013.
