Cracked Skull Imagery Delivers Helmet PSA Message
We love PSAs. We especially love PSAs from countries outside the U.S. where creating an ad that dramatically delivers the message isn't hampered by left, right, middle-winged cause groups that feel anything beyond a shot of a smiling baby will be offensive to...well...some small minority no one's ever heard of. So we gleefully share this Berlin-based public serviced announcement encouraging bicyclers to wear helmets.

Cool ad. But Egghead should have known - don't try riding a bike while your brain is on drugs.
I'm hungry for breakfast...
I untterly disagree with your enthusiasm for this PSA. And it has nothing to do with left wing or right wing PC. It has to do with over the top, ham-fisted creative that could find no more creative way to get a message out than to just spill its guts. Or in this case, its gray matter. A creative no-fly zone candidate if ever there was one.
Simple. Clear. Quick. Memorable. May not win a prize but who cares? May get someone to wear a helmet. Isn't that the idea?
I'll give you simple. But Ernie's "ham-fisted" also applies. (Mmmm...ham.) It's also rather obvious, don't you think? "If you don't wear a helmet you could crack open your head." Yeah, everybody already knows that. I suspect this is the sort of thing bicyclists in Berlin will hang on their walls. To laugh at with their friends.
I still think it's an image that works. It reminds us of our fragility. We go about our lives thinking we are invincible. Until we find out -often through sudden violence - that we are merely flesh and bone. Say it is obvious, but I still think it is memorable and works on the purely visual lizard mind. I think it is effective. Yes headbangers will hang it on their walls but for many it will be an image that comes to mind when they are riding.
Wow! The image does have an IMPACT!
Am gonna wear a helmet for sure whenever I ride a bicycle from now on... whoops...

I won't, but I still think it's a good ad.
