Banned Ad Strategy Jumps The Shark

motts_banned_spot.jpg

Clearly a sign the GoDaddy-like, too-hot-for-TV, banned commercial strategy to milk press has jumped the shark, Motts has aired a spot for its Clamato juice featuring, simply, the brand's logo, official sounding text indicating the ad was deemed too racy for broadcast and a plea to visit the Mott's Clamato juice website to, surprise, view the commercial. A tipster points out, humorously, when attempting to view the video, all one sees is "Error 509 Bandwidth limit exceeded." Apparently, the spot's too hot for the web too.

Whatever happened to good old fashioned tits-n-ass marketing? I'm thinking Youngers Tartan Special ads from the 1970s, Tennents Lager packaging, I'm thinking the thinly-veiled fellatio metaphors that adorned Cadbury Flake TV-spots. Jeesh....this new stuff is all very, very poor.

so you are telling me that there is no actual commercial? this whole thing was just a gimmick to get me to visit motts.com?
i feel so dirty inside.....

I wish one of the early people who downloaded the video (before Mott's bandwidth was exceeded) would share the file on Kazaa, or maybe put up some mirror sites. I want to see it!!

I don't think there is an actual comercial... Mott's sucks... I hate being played like this...

It's all moronic. Even if they intentionally made an ad too "racy" (ie., hateful and/or offensive) for teleivison, who the fuck cares?

I am BOYCOTTING CADBURY.

I don't think that there is actually an ad - each time you visit the site you get a different "Error Message"... hoping that someone can explain what seems to be an exceedingly frustrating marketing ploy - who decided that this was a good idea?

I'm not too sure what their _point_ is, but now there is a viewable slideshow of the "commercial" as well as "Mail Room" where you can read so-called letter about their spicy campaign.

"For better or for worse, at least one person on set had the presence of mind to whip out a digital camera and document what went down that day. Too bad they didn't think far enough ahead to prevent the resulting debacle from happening in the first place, but hey, you can't win 'em all. Here's some of what they saw..."

Other then a picture of something that looks like a crime scene, there isn't anything racy about them.

If you all check out the slideshow of the video one of the last pictures shows what may be a man who seems to be a tad bit ummmm "excited.
Not 100% sure but check it anyways.

Are we all two years old again? whenever it's said
"do not touch", we invariably torch our fingers in the fire. what is with the 'motts' ad? can anyone really know? or is it another paris hilton video? please help us, show us the way...

I'm trying to find out the name of the male model in the ad. In the "QCC Censored" commercial, the one without the nurse, because I seem to be seeing two different versions. In the shorter one where you just get a distant shot of two girls taking a guy out of camera range, there's some soapy hands, and the guy pops up in the end. I need to know who did the ad campaign, or who he is. Can anyone help? Or steer me in a direction to find the info?
