At Cannes Lions, 'Big Data' and 'Content' Best 'Campaign' And 'Ad'

As we continue our round up of goings at Cannes Lions, the shortlists for PR, Media, Outdoor, Mobile, Creative Effectiveness and Press have been released. You can check them all out here. In other important Cannes Lions news for Monday:

- Many were surprised and thought it sacriligious the gutter bar didin't look the same as it did last year.

- Nine year old Cain Monroy (of Caine's Arcade), in a JWT-led seminar entitled What Can 3 Kids Teach You About Creativity, told the audience they really need to think like kids sometimes to be creative.

- At 40, you graduate from the gutter bar to the Carlton Terrace.

- Porn scammers have discovered the #canneslions hashtag and are all over it in full force.

- This year, agencies have paid a total of 14.8mil € to submit their work to Cannes Lions.

- "Big Data" and "Content" are most used words so far at #CannesLions. "Campaign" and "Ad" coming up a lot less. Are things finally changing?

- The Dutch Young Creatives are still hot.

- Omar Epps went up against SapientNitro in a seminar that asked the question, "Who's the smarter marketer, a global brand or a global marketer?" It appears Epps won hands down.

- The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation did their best to inspire the world's creatives to do great work for free.

- Former Adrants Editor Angela Natividad waxes eloquently on Adverve sharing her thoughts on arriving for yet another year of fun, sun and serious lack of sleep.

- According to Arianna Huffington "relentless engagement," as opposed to glossy ads, is what's needed to better engage with consumers.

- AdExchanger Managing Editor Zach Rogers got to ride the plane to Canes with Bob Garfield...and a screaming baby.
