Alec Baldwin Supports Mother's Love For Wegman's
While the ads are not all that great...after all, they're for a grocery store...we can tell you from personal experience that Rochester, New York-based Wegman's is every bit as awesome as Alec Baldwin's mother says it is. If you recall, Baldwin appeared on Letterman and told Dave after Baldwin and one of his brothers suggested their mother relocate from Syracuse to California, Baldwin's mother's response was, "And leave Wegman's?"
To support his mother's love for Wegman's, Baldwin traveled to the Syracuse area store where his mother shops and filmed two commercials which were just released. In one ad, Baldwin touts the grocer's $6 meals which he compares to the price of a cup of coffee in New York City, saying, "I can't get a cup of coffee in New York for six dollars."
In the second commercial, after sampling the many cakes on display in the store, Baldwin says, "Well I don't want to bother my mother with choosing, so let's just have one of each."
We don't care how average the ads may be because we know the what's being sold to us is truly awesome. And if you've ever shopped Wegman's, you know this to be true. Obviously, this is a bit of a coup for Wegman's and can you blame them for whipping out a couple of ads with Alec Baldwin just in time for the holiday shopping season?
And just so everyone understands what a nice guy Baldwin can be, the fee he was paid to appear in the commercials was donated to the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund, a breast cancer research foundation named after his mother who survived breast cancer.
