Will Ferrell Rolls the Cause Dice for Burma

will-ferrell-for-burma.jpg

Whether you're an air traffic controller or some random kid in Toledo, Burma could use your help tackling that slippery "human rights" concept.

Seriously. There's some screwed-up stuff happening there, including ethnic cleansing and the imprisonment of a Nobel Peace Prize winner, and Will Ferrell took time out of his busy Funny or Die schedule just to tell you so.

In the next 30 days, other celebs will lend their earnest faces and awkward jokes to Burma: It Can't Wait, orchestrated by Fanista and Digital Influence Group. Up to bat tomorrow: Jennifer Aniston and Woody Harrelson. Sure it's an odd pairing (Natural Born Killers meets Friends?), but crisis has a way of making unlikely bedfellows.

Loving how the site cuts right to the chase with that big red DONATE button.

Hey guys,

I work at Fanista and just wanted to let you know that the campaign actually lives at http://www.burmaitcantwait.org (this is where the US Campaign for Burma site that Adrants links to sends everyone) - there are bonus features, archive footage, more information on Aung San Suu Kyi, you can access the social media components (facebook application, myspace page, etc.) and you can join the campaign through a site popup without leaving the experience.

Also, the incredible digital agency who helped us put this together is called Digital Influence Group (they're out of Boston), and the work they did on the microsite is phenomenal. Just wanted to give them a shout out.

You know who has championed this cause since January? Rambo. But nobody took him seriously. Really, even though it was a ridiculous movie, you can't take it away from Sly that he's been trying to bring this to people's attention before the rest of the celeb bandwagoners did.
