Orville Redenbacker Dies. Again.
So much for the attempted resurrection of Orville Redenbacher. Seems the creepy fellow didn't accomplish what Crispin Porter + Bogusky and ConAgra foods had hoped and the account has been moved to Venebles, Bell & Partners. The campaign, which launched in January and met with a collective "what the fuck?" from observers and has been laid to rest alongside the real Orville Redenbacker...who never should have suffered the indignation of this excuse of a campaign from the former poster child agency.

Between this and the Ask.com campaign (Ask's marketshare continues to stagniate and was actually down in June) CP&B is really cranking out some winners of late.
So does the mighty giant finally come crashing down? Here's 2 campaigns that are not setting the world on fire. Was it hubris? Or just a couple bad ideas?
I guess we'll see what they do next.
CPB needs some great strategic thinking. AKA, common sense. that's always been their achilles heel. starting to show now.
Let's take a trip back in time: http://www.adrants.com/2007/01/crispin-plays-at-necromancy-for-popcorn-k.php#comments Looks like we were smarter than ConAgra :)
I have to ask the potential obvious question here, what the fuck are Nike and AMEX thinking?

cpb is a sinking ship. alex's koolaide is wearing
off and the rats are scattering.
Well, as I posted on AdScam... The Zombie agency has struck out with Dead Orville and Dead Burt Reynolds... So what's next... The curse of the Mummy Chicken... These guys need to get their fucking act together... As dear dead Jay Chiat once said... "I can't wait to see how big we get before we get bad!" CP+B just got there!
