Day Rider Puts Unimpressive Spin on Knight Rider
Ugh. We're not sure what Carsguide was thinking when they agreed to launch this campaign by Cummins and Partners out of Melbourne.
Animated by Firehorse Films, the guys who did bro'Town (NZ's response to Family Guy), this film, called Day Rider, is a kitsch-ridden, awkward spoof on the '80's series Knight Rider. Naturally the car becomes the protagonist's worst enemy.
Because for some odd reason watching an '80's hoopty go bad will inspire you to possess one of your own, Carsguide ties the campaign in with an opportunity to win an '84 TransAm.
We're trying to think of more mean things to say but we're too sleepy and bored, so we'll just move on now.

hah. like what the hell have you done? I don't even work in the industry but I have to tell you to lay off the MASSIVE bowls of Bitch for breakfast! It's a good campaign and it works (have already heard people talking about it), and fuck me! I'd LURVE an 84 Trans-Am....
I've seen this on youtube.

It's going down pretty well there. I thought it was amusing. Couple of very funny moments. Totally fresh approach too.

Yeah, according to YouTube the punter clearly loves it. But then who cares what the consumer thinks.
This spot is hillarious. Brilliant animation too. Never seen an ad like this before. I think you might have missed the point here. Knight Rider was corny and that's half the appeal. Boy, you've really got your finger on the pulse there, adrants!
Win an 84 TransAm? Ha-Ha, That's almost as bad as when a network music video show had a contest to win a car like the one in a U2 video. It was a "Trabant" (A car made in the former East Germany). They discovered that Trabants didn't pass U.S. safety and emmisions standards and had to change the award to $5,000.
You're right Timmmmm. No one with any cred ever drove a retro car. All the cool people have state of the art toyota's with chilled glove compartments. Stay white and nerdy Timmmm.
American cars from the 80's were the poorest quality, crappiest pieces of junk that were ever made. Trans Ams were for shallow, immature hotshot doofusses and teenagers who couldn't afford a Corvette.
Didn't Barbie drive a Corvette?
Yes Barbie drives a Corvette. A plastic person driving a plastic car, just like in real life.
