'Entourage' Ari Gold Site Beats A Dead Chicken With A Hammer
OK. We like Deep Focus and we like HBO. We especially like HBO's Entourage so when we were sent a link to a promotional site at which you can get get an interview with Ari Gold for a position in his new agency, we had high hopes for the site. Let's put it this way. Can we, as an industry, right now, right this very second, put a lid on any project even remotely similar to Burger King's Subservient Chicken? And, for the love of GOD, can we please stop trying to latch onto something that was over the day after Crispin Poprter + Bogusky launched that site?
Yes, this is not exactly the same as Subservient Chicken but that's not entirely the point here. The Interview With Ari site is just really nor very good. Ari's responses are not even remotely close to anything we typed in. We know the dude is a clueless a-hole but even Ari can carry on a discussion better than this digital version of himself. So please. Please. For the love of all things advertising, everyone please swear you will never, ever again try to create a Subservient Chicken knock off. OK? Good. We still love Deep Focus and HBO

wow - pretty horrible execution from the sign-up to the flash video...even Ari's sayings are lame (guess the show's writers weren't available...)
must have looked great on paper...
If you want real Ari-isms go to Youtube here:

Yes I agree, Steve, we should all stop trying to make crap, that demonstrates no ROI, but amuses our creative teams, like CPB does.
Ouch, what a lame site. Almost as lame as mine. The combined effected of all of these corporate Flash 8 video diversions is mind numbing. I think the average consumer doesn't get exposed to the breadth of them, but working in the industry it is unavoidable. It must sound good to make a cool interactive site for a client, but that in itself is not a reason WHY.
And what does that site do with your email when you enter it? I didn't see an explanation anywhere.
But MOST amusing is the fact that Piven is HAMMERED! A friend who works at HBO and was involved with producing this web program told me months ago that they shot this and he showed up TOTALLY BOMBED. Check it out. It's so obvious.

I hate being a sticky wicket, but don't you check for spelling and grammar before you post? It definitely kills your credibility.
Going with credibility the Subservient Chicken was launched years ago and it wasnt a project by Crispin Porter + Bogusky and had nothing to do with Burger King. But yeah maybe they should put a lid on trying to connect themselves with anything that generates as many hits in one day, if only for a day, that it did.
I don't know what Pon is thinking, but Subservient Chicken was indeed a CP+B campaign for Burger King, and it went out only a year and a half ago:

Frankly, an attempt to recapture the buzz that the Chicken site had didn't enter my mind. A few campaigns have been attempting this interactive gimmick lately, notably Washington Mutual and their "Trapped Bankers":
