Johnnie Walker Bangkok Building Wrap Sends Mixed Messages

johnny_walker_drink_drive.jpg

Adrants reader Sarah spotted a Johnnie Walker building wrap on the Baiyoke Sky Tower in Bangkok, Thailand that began with the tease, "Drink, Don't Drive." Weeks later, the Johnnie Walker walking man appeared capped with a white banner that, very oddly, for a liquor brand, read "Don't drink alcohol, it's against the 5 rules." The banner refers to the five rules of Buddhism one of which bans intoxicating substances. Perhaps it's just covering all bases but it's an odd combination of mixed messages for sure. See the teaser image here.

You positive that "5 Rules" banner is actually part of the Johnnie Wallker banner? Might be a protest piece or something placed above the JW banner.

Bob...could be but I was told it went up when the Walker dude went up. Anon, indeed we did spell Johnnie wrong. We don't drink the stuff and hate people who use malformed versions of perfectly good names as in Aimee instead of Amy. OK so just like we wouldn't want to piss off a pompous mother who likes to name her son Jaymz instead of James, we'll make the change.

Update: They've taken the banner down now! Maybe it took a while to find a ladder that long...

P.s. it's Bangkok, Thailand = ) Thanks
