Apple Intel Spot Disses PCs

apple_intel_ad.jpg

Having good fun crapping on PCs, Apple has released its TBWA/Chiat/Day-created spot announcing its use of Intel chips in Macs. We know you've all probably seen it already so just consider this an archive placement.

UPDATE: There's a lengthy digg forum discussion whether or not Apple borrowed some ideas for this spot from a U.S Postal Service The Postal Service (the band) video - a situation similar to the Eminen/Lugz copycat episode.

UPDATE: Check out side by side comparison of the two videos.

Couldn't view it on my Mac 10.2 using Firefox, Safari, or IE. Shee-at, what's the deal?

hmmmm, wonder if my pc will play it?

Why is this filed under Commercials, Good? Yawn. I kept waiting for some sort of twist or payoff or anything interesting to happen. Pretty weak for Chiat Day.

I agree Pat. They should have starting "scratchin" the chip-set like a DJ or something...show a creative flair. Start dancing around and shaking their ass! Would be a nice tie-in to iTunes and iPod.

I'm pretty sure they mean the band The Postal Service and not the USPS.

I don't know of many USPS music videos...

Its about time, Apple started dissing PC's! No need for a twist, and as for the payoff, well its telling my PC friends that the Intel chip found a better home, now I don't have to worry about coming up with a good dig. Its straight forward and now when I need to defend macs I can just send my friends the ads!!

PC's Ha ... Now what!!

Thanks Chiat Day!! You rock!!

Oops, Jeff. I'm such a clueless idiot. You are right. The forum refers to the band.

Only problem is Intel is now serving two masters. Talk about a rock and a hard place.

Where can I see The Postal Service video or whatever you are reffering to?

The fact that Mac now uses Intel chips proves how similiar PCs and MACs are. The only question remains: Why are MACs so freaking expensive?

Also, how is it a defense for MAC being better if MAC has switched to the chip that PC has been always using? Doesn't it prove that PCs have made a better choice long time ago?

"Also, how is it a defense for MAC being better if MAC has switched to the chip that PC has been always using? Doesn't it prove that PCs have made a better choice long time ago?"

The gist of the campaign is that Intel chips are better off now that they are inside Macs. i.e. Apple makes Intel better.

And did I detect Moby in the background? C'mon Apple, Think Different.

For those of you who haven't seen it, check out the side-by-side comparison of the two videos, syncronized... it's much more than subtle similarities! http://www.ELITEproductionsWI.com/apple-ps.htm

I'm pretty disapointed in Chiat/Day on this one——as well as the past two or so years with Apple's campaigns. Hey Lee, must be nice up there, not having to do anything great amymore, huh?

Well that idea came from the directors that shot both of the pieces. Josh + Xander. At least they kept on piece of it pure.
