Unheard of Country Bans Foreign Models From Ad Campaigns
Not that anyone's heard of Belarus nor is there any worry it will affect the world's modelling and advertising industry in any way, the country's president has introduced a law that prevents foreign models from appearing in any of the country's ad campaigns. Why do we even report this stuff?

I have heard of Belarus. It was a part of USSR.I know Americans are bad when it comes to world history and geography, but until 9/11, most were not aware of a place called Afghanistan.
Stop being arrogant.
Thanks.
It's not arrogance, Sunil. It's called humor.
Of course some people have heard of the country, but the majority HAS NOT!
Stop being prudish.
Thanks.
I didnt find it arrogant or humorous. just standard issue USA!
but mostly i thought of Rochelle Rochelle: a young girls journey from Milan to Minsk!
Good ol Sienfeld. Now THATS funny!
Something else needs to be considered here: the quality of Belarussian models.

could be worse...
Well, something to keep the WTO busy next session. ;)
i suspect bill clinton would volunteer to serve as an ambassador to investigate this international political event.
Well I suppose the fact the tone of this came off as standard issue USA might be because...oh...say Adrants is published in the USA:-)
I think the fact that Belarus vowed not to use foreign models was a great strategy to put the country and its models on the top.
Brilliant strategy.
wow, it seems not knowing Belarus is now a sign of arrogance.
I have heard of Mumbai before when they call it Bombay. But I am not aware that there is a place called Bollywood...that seems like similar to Hollywood. Stop being a copycat!
thanks!
Actually, there were a lot of cool ways to take this post.. that you didn't shows your lack of knowledge not only in basic European geography, but also marketing, and modeling as it relates to business.
come on guys play nice
"I'm in Myanmar, you might know it as Burma...but it will always be Burma to me.."...gotta love Seinfeld
I think Belarus is a country almost everyone has heard of but can't necessarily place on the map on right away.
I think LRA is right on the money. The strategy is what's important here and the fact that you now will google Belarus and even try to catch what their models look like shows that they are excellent strategists.
istanbul was constantinople.
now it's istanbul, not constantinople.
