You Oughtta Know About Inbound Marketing

HubSpot’s Rebecca Corliss and friends are out with a video slamming outbound marketing and hyping inbound.

Beginning with an out of touch supervisor throwing the yellow pages on her desk and exclaiming, “What the hell is this internet crap? If you’re not dialing, I’m not smiling,” Rebecca, to the tune of Alanis Morissette’s “Oughta Know,” tells us what we ought to know about inbound marketing.

From blogs to landing pages search engine optimization to tagging to RSS to pagerank to Twitter, Corliss insist inbound marketing deserves as much respect as outbound. The end of the video ends with a shot of Google and the suggestion of a search for the term “inbound marketing.”

Can you guess what the first search result is? Yup. It’s a post on Hubspot’s blog entitled Inbound Marketing vs. Outbound Marketing. Nice. Very nice.

And before you slam the video for it’s cheesiness, that’s not the point. With just that one SEO/inbound marketing move, Rebecca has made her point.

And, for you score keepers, no, this is not the first time something like this has been done.
