Some Pig Wants You to Bring Out Your Dead

Oink Ink Radio needs entries for its 11th annual Dead Radio contest.

“Disheartened copywriters are invited to submit their best radio scripts that have been rejected, passed up, and left to collect dust. Oink then treats the winning copywriter to an expense-paid weekend in either New York or Los Angeles, homes to Oink studios.”

In other words, scripts that should by all rights be left dead are given a chance to live — all expenses paid. According to Oink Ink, past winners have gone on to win Addys and Mercurys and Clios and whatnot.

Greeeeeat. What’s more depressing than most UGC campaigns? Some actual creative’s “baby” that just didn’t make the cut.

So what are you waiting for? “BRING OUT YOUR DEAD!” Oink proclaims, like a medieval custodian of bodies infected with the black plague.

Entries will be accepted until May 31.

I had three close friends in my twenties and by my sixties they were all gone — not dead, just scattered by careers and kids and moves — and I’m sitting here realizing I never learned how to make new ones because I thought the first ones would last forever

Behavioral scientists found that the generation gap between boomers and millennials isn’t actually about values. It’s about emotional dialect. Both generations care deeply about family, loyalty, and hard work, but they express it in languages so different that love from one side registers as control or indifference on the other
