Today Publishers Clearing House launched a social charity program on Facebook called The Give Back which lets PCH Facebook fans vote for the charity they would like to see the company award $25,000. Second and third place charities will receive $2,500 each and, to encourage participation, one Facebook fan will receive a $5,000 prize.

The Give Back program is a two stage process. In the first stage, fans will vote on ten different causes, including Fight Disease, Save the Environment, Protect the Animals, Help the Homeless, Develop Communities, Improve Education, Enrich the Arts, Promote Sports, Provide Disaster Relief and Support the Troops. This stage will last approximately two weeks. The three causes with the most votes will move on to the next rounds.

The second round of voting is approximately four weeks long and will feature one charity from each of the top three causes selected by the PCH Fans. At the end of the second round, the charity with the most votes will receive a cash donation of $25,000. The two runners’ up will also be given a donation of $2,500. Throughout the process, PCH will also be offering a $5,000 sweepstakes to everyone that becomes a fan and participates in the event. Fans can log on and enter once a day by voting for their favorite charity.

Of the program, PCH Online VP and General Manager Josh Glantz said, “We have the most engaged and energized fans on Facebook. From answering questions about what they would do with $1 Million to commenting on our latest Prize Patrol giveaway, our fans love to express their opinions and share their preferences. Our roots run deep, through the philanthropy of our founders, in charitable support and we wanted to find a way to involve our loyal fans in the decision on which charity to receive a donation this holiday season. This program puts our fans in control of an impactful decision and will also be a lot of fun for everyone who gets involved.”
