Post Cereal is Simply Shredded. Simply.

Is it really so hard to create a simple, basic product and market it for what it is rather than layering on useless features and making exaggerated marketing claims? No, and Post Shredded Wheat with help from Ogilvy highlights the fact the product hasn’t changed one bit since it was introduced in 1892.

Well, except for the fact they made it spoon sized to which spokesman Frank Druffel wonders, “did we go to far?

But the best line in the commercial comes when Druffel points out, “Aw, heck, we didn’t even name it.”

We love this commercial which blames progress for current culture’s climate change and landfill problems along with pointing out the earlier failings of the Romans and the Pharaohs. Because of this, Post “puts the ‘no’ in Innovation.”

One irritant? The URL, which leads to all kinds of online goodies is on screen in mice type for a grand total of two seconds.

We like this approach but it won’t be too long before the whole sex sells thing creeps in giving us taglines like “Simply Sexy.”
