Pop Culture Still Tells the Best Stories About Us

This isn’t an ad; it’s a music video for D.A.N.C.E. by Justice.

We like the video because it does a spiffy-ass job of using retro pop images, subculture slogans, familiar colours, and even corporate fonts to demonstrate how these messages embed themselves seamlessly into our everyday interactions with as much ease as a casual shrug.

They become our witty little manifestos, a patchwork retelling of our sensory experiences. Brought together and mashed, they tell a more colourful story. We really like the moment when the “Internet killed the video stars” design is swallowed by a spinning cross, which is then overtaken by a pyramid.

And can you catch the moment when the Disney font is used?

Your T-shirt does indeed say a lot about you. Props to Albert K. for pointing us to it.
