McDonald’s Cures Oversleeping With Video Contest

Aside from maybe the coffee, we can’t really think of a reason why a visit to McDonald’s is necessarily an activity that will help you wake up and face the day. Well, other then the fact you have to actually be awake to go to a McDonald’s but let’s not get bogged down in the details. One would assume a nice big, greasy, artery-clogging McDonald’s breakfast would make you sleepy and want to crawl back into bed or, more likely, barf but McDonald’s, with it’s Moroch Partners-created Morning Impaired site thinks otherwise.

The site does the alcoholics anonymous thing and makes an actual disease out of the inability to wake up in the morning. Complete with MI meetings and advice, there’s a…wait for it…video contest that asks people to submit videos about Morning Impairedness in order to…well, we’re not sure why. Apparently your video will be featured on the site and you can win prizes but we’re not quite sure what they are since the prize page only has a picture of a chair, mention of getting a “seat amongst the Society for The Morning Impaired and legalese that no one will read. Who’s gonna go to the trouble of submitting video if they aren’t at least gonna get some free food?

Oh wait. Wait. There it is. Buried in the middle of the press release. “Everyone who visits the site can heal their “Morning Impairedness” by receiving a free Sausage McGriddles sandwich** just for signing up and becoming a member of the Society for the Morning Impaired.” Hmm. One problem. That information isn’t anywhere on the website. If it is, it wasn’t obvious.
