Having Sex Standing Up Won’t Get You Pregnant. Oh Wait.

sex_standing_up.jpg

It’s amazing the amount of misinformation floating around. Apparently, one in five guys believe you’re less likely to get a girl pregnant if you have sex standing up. Seriously? Who knew? Where do people formulate these ass-backwards beliefs?

Perhaps from the very marketing trying to address the misinformation.

The information sent along with the campaign claims one in five guys believe you can’t get a girl pregnant if you have sex standing up. One of the videos claims having sex while standing up is “consequence free.”

Sounds OK so far but then the other video states, “nearly one in five guys believe that having sex while standing up reduces the chance of pregnancy.” And the Have Sex Standing Up website pronounces, “almost one in five guys between the ages of 18 and 29 believes it.”

So which is it? Can’t? Reduces? Only young guys?

One YouTube commenter summed up this clusterfuck writing, “This sort of double dipshit maneuver in sex education is harmful.”

And then there’s this. The “facts” the Have Sex Standing Up website points to? A Wikipedia page. Right. Why not point to an actual research source?

Now, we’re not arguing Wikipedia is useless. Far from it. But if this claim is substantiated by actual research then why not cite it?

The whole thing makes our head spin a bit. And maybe go conduct some reasearch of our own on the subject.
