Gondry Lays Waste to Internet for ‘Be Kind Rewind’

We used to be fans of Michel Gondry, the father of lush Levi’s commercials and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. But then he came out with The Science of Sleep and shattered our childlike faith in his ability to do no wrong.

We’re willing to forgive him, though. Check out the website for Be Kind Rewind, his latest oeuvre, created by Sydney and Tequila Australia.

It’s fucking creepy. With just a click of a button we’ve destroyed the internet, and Google — all potency lost — just blew by us, disconnected from its minions. Other popular sites like Youtube, eBay and Wikipedia have been “sweded” for the promotion. We don’t actually know what that means but you can interact with the sweded pages and upload your own, too.

If that’s not compelling enough, consider the cast: Jack Black, Mos Def and Danny Glover? You mean the guy whose career was pretty much non-existent after Angels in the Outfield (which, in our naivete, we actually loved)?!

How can you fucking miss this? You can’t.

So don’t. The film premieres February 22.
