Global Chaos, Gunmetal Violence and Power Ballads Collide in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

For Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, TBWAChiatDay Los Angeles and The Ant Farm produced four geo-specific teasers that reflect strategic Western-World locations, aired in their respective real-world counterparts and elsewhere.

The teasers ran globally offline and online, driving seething viewers who will likely never go to war — but will fantasise about it anyway — to watch the NBA Western Conference Finals and Champions Leagues Finals, where the :90 World Premier was aired.

The campaign’s PR boots proudly attest to over 19 million YouTube views combined, which means a lot, especially when you take into account that every time a person hits the play button, that counts as a YouTube view. *eyeroll*

Here are each of the teasers.

And here’s the :90 crescendo, which is nice and chilling:

These graphics look awesome. We developed a special fondness for this six-minute Legend of Karl bit, heavy with power ballads, at least one awkward dance number and a “gratuitously violent ending” to the tune of Downtown, already bloodcurdlingly disturbing if you’ve ever watched “Girl, Interrupted.”

This made us want to be gamers.
