Come on Down to Clevelandtown, Everyone!’

“Buy some food that’s prepared near the street!”

Just one of the things you can look forward to when you visit Cleveland, according to this hastily made tourist video spoof — which, incidentally, is generating hundreds of thousands more views than the official Cleveland plug.

Darryl Ohrt at Brand Flakes for Breakfast also points out the video’s second in organic results when you search “cleveland, tourism” on Google.

Awwwkward. But hell, when even earnest Clevelanders are putting together stuff like this to promote city spirit, you start thinking it’s probable that, yeah, the city’s only major recreational activity is watching poor people wait for the bus. Also, didn’t View from the Top dub Cleveland “a huge waiting room”?

Somebody needs to get on top of that C-town buzz. Anyway, this was a long digression. Back to the point: funny Cleveland spoof (“Who the fuck still uses a payphone?” lollololol*), via Coudal.

* This is the noise Bill Green made when he showed me this. I think. Possibly he makes that noise in general.

Men often don’t think twice about stepping toward a threat before thinking it through, but a large study across seven experiments found that this instinct to protect, not physical strength itself, is one of the strongest drivers of how attractive a partner is rated — and it’s the willingness that counts, even when the attempt doesn’t fully succeed
