Clio Announces Jury Chairmen…Well, Half of Them

Today, the Clio Awards announced Executive Jury Chairs for the the organization’s 49th annual awards. Anomaly Partner Johny Vulkan will oversee Content & Contact, Saatchi & Saatchi Chief Creative Officer Tony Granger will oversee Television/Cinema/Digital and DDB UK Executive Creative Director Jeremy Craigen will oversee Print/Poster/Innovative/Integrated.

Sounding particularly pumped over the organization’s selections, Clio Awards Managing Director Tony Gulisano said, “These individuals collectively represent the power of the idea. They are an excellent fit for the role because they’re totally plugged in to the new dynamics of the marketplace, and proactively playing a part in moving the industry forward with their own work. Because of their fresh thinking and personal experience, they’re challenging the expected and generating great creative across all media.”

Interactive, Radio, Design and Technique Jury heads will be announced shortly.

Johnny Vulkan is one of the founding architects of Anomaly, responsible for innovation on the agency’s own initiatives and intellectual property, as well as stewarding new product development for clients such as The Coca-Cola Company, Nestle, Virgin America and Jawbone. He previously led new product development projects at Fahrenheit 212, where he helped evolve new markets and products for P&G, General Mills and Starbucks. Prior to that, Vulkan spent three years as COO at TBWAChiatDay, New York, before co-founding the Disruption Group for the agency, where he became a group creative director leading communications innovation for MasterFoods, Absolut Vodka and the agency at large.

Tony Granger is one of the most awarded creative directors in the industry, playing a major role in leading Saatchi & Saatchi, New York to win Clio 2007 Agency of the Year honors and Saatchi & Saatchi Worldwide as Clio 2007 Network of the Year, as determined by the agency office and network that score the most Clio statue points in all categories for a given year. He has created transformational work for some of the world’s biggest and smartest marketers, including BMW, P&G, Bank of America, General Mills, Ameriprise, JCPenney and others. Prior to being named top creative at Saatchi & Saatchi, New York in 2004, he ran the agency’s creative department in London, served as creative chief at Bozell New York, and first made a name for himself at TBWAHuntLascaris in Johannesburg, South Africa. In early 2008, Granger will move to Young & Rubicam, where he will serve as worldwide creative director.

Jeremy Craigen joined the London office of DDB in 1990 from Bates Dorland. As a copywriter, he worked on a number of award-winning campaigns for clients such as Volkswagen, Budweiser, Sony, American Airlines and Optrex. He was promoted to the board in 1996 and made a director of creativity, where he was involved in the successful and highly awarded affordability campaign for VW, which helped propel the agency to the top of the Gunn Report in its inaugural year. Craigen was named creative director in 2002, leading DDB to a wide range of industry awards, and three years later promoted to executive creative director.
