Tuesday evening before the storm known as ad:tech San Francisco hit, ad:tech hosted a party for all the exhibitors who have been hard at work planning for the event, putting their booths together and generally making sure all expected 9,000 attendees have something worthwhile to see as they saunter through the exhibit hall. the event was held in the center of the exhibit hall in an area dubbed the “experclick cafe.” Beer, wine and munchies were served while ad:tech VP Don Knox graciously welcomed the exhibitors are revved them up for the next two days of action.

While this was going on, booths were still being erected and one, in particular, caught the eye. Search marketing firm iProspect had crafted a booth that looked like the gold prospecting days of old – a nice analogy to the company’s business purpose. Lead management firm WhosCalling was having a good time setting up their booth area which we were told will be the site of an actual twister game. Content exchange and contextual marketing firm Mochila, who will be announcing a new, human-managed contextual advertising product, had a nice corner booth spot on the main through way in the center of the exhibit hall. After speaking with the team for a bit, it’s clear that anyone who is interested in making their content available to a wider audience and gaining better control over their contextual marketing efforts so as to avoid the all too common contextual blunders should definitely be speaking with Mochila.

As we looped through the exhibit hall, we found a sign that looked entirely out of place. In fact, it looked like it belonged at a high school prom or a college fraternity bash. It read, “Standing on chairs, tables, or other rented furniture in prohibited,” causing us to double check just what event we were actually attending.
