Ad Guy Doesn't Pay Rent, Ad Biz Still Viewed As Sleazy

It seems Toronto ad execs can't seem to stay out of trouble. First, henderson bas President Dawna Henderson gets exposed as a maniacal control freak and now some ad guy has stiffed another out of rent money. An Adrants readers writes us saying, "Toronto Marketing consultant Simon Wood owed my friend thousands ($6,000) of dollars in back-rent, stringing him along until finally disappearing into the night. This friend, also an Ad-guy, got really pissed-off and searched the net for where to track down Mr. Wood. He discovered in the process that Simon had let his B2B site domain's registry slide. My friend (Phil Bonnell according to Whois) bought www.simonwood.ca for eleven dollars and the rest is history."

The site contains page after page of not so nice comments about Wood including the predictable "got wood" joke. While we get a sick pleasure out of this stuff, it also concerns us and just confirms why the general public ransk us right up their with car dealers in terms of trust and integrity.

If you take Exit 10, advertising in Baltimore might lead to Toronto. Not sure, though. Better use your GPS.

Occasionally, copywriters can actually dish up a little justice.

This Phil guy's no writer. That's definitely for sure. But his sense of humour is unparalleled.

Phil B - And his evil genius should commended. He has taking a new approach to communicating to those who "disappear in the middle of the night". In my opinion, as an ex domain registration clerk , hosting provider and along with being a complete internet junkie, Phil had bought the simonwood.ca domain (fair and square) and in my opinion, he is using it reinforce the ideology that the internet is 100% about communication, and his message direct, simple, and clear. Traits that all great internet messaging is striving for. Simon, I hope you run into some small woodland creatures, infected with rabies and high on crack, which will proceed to tear your tea bag off.

(Applause) to Phil master of the Roti.
