United Nations Hires LonelyGirl15 For Poverty PSA
Yes, it's come full circle. An entity with seemingly no purpose has been hired by one which has a very important purpose, the United Nations. Y&R, which works on the United Nations' Millennium campaign, contacted Greg Goodfried, one of the guys being the 40-video LonelyGirl15 series to see if LonelyGirl15 herself, Jessica Lee Rose, wold be interested in fronting a PSA. The deal was made and the video is now on YouTube for all to see.
While the marriage of LonelyGirl15 with the United Nations might, at first, seem odd, we're thinking it's kinda brilliant. With her following, a generation raised in a world of media vastly different than that of just five years ago, the move shows someone behind this effort truly understands social media and why tonnage television buys aren't always the best thing for getting the word out.

Contrived and *yawn*. I think the guys behind the LonelyGirl phenom are trying to make good after the brouha over their little web fiction. And it still seems disingenuous to me: why not use real people talking about stuff near and dear to the UN's heart instead of some made up character?
You can see right through this one. Try again!
Hmmmm..... I still like the "Rocketboom Remake" better featuring that fat guy dressed up as a female reporter on YouTube.
Well to be clear, I completely agree with Caffeine Marketing. There will never be a better video than the fat fake Amanda dissing the homeless guy.
That said, I was looking forward to RANTING on AdRant about how absurd you were to approve of the LonelyGirl15 video. Then I watched the piece. And I realized that while it may remind some of us of chalkboard scratching... it doesnt' really matter.
What matters is that -- real or not -- there's a generation who relates to this person the same way some of us related to Jerry Seinfeld's character on Seinfeld (which is also fiction). And this message will hit home with them.
So a reluctant "tip of the hat."
then why..., 'This video has been removed by the user.'? It seems that these guy don't understands social media at all.
