Lick Her In Clearwater, Poke Her In Vegas
It seems a Hooters billboard in Clearwater Florida, sent to us by Flickr user id10t, which reads "Liquor in Clearwater, Poker in Vegas" took the innuendo a bit too far for Mayor Frank Hibbard who, a couple weeks ago upon returning from church, didn't think it was the right message to send to those entering Clearwater. He asked the chain to change the board and a new one went up this past Thursday which reads, "Liquor in Clearwater, Casino in Vegas." Apparently, one of the original boards is still up on I-275 in Tampa.
We're interested in what female readers think of the initial headline. Is it harmless wordplay or does it perpetuate the image of women as sexual plaything?

It's harmless wordplay, and bad wordplay at that if you ask me, too cliche man.
I actually think its quite a laugh, and of course harmless wordplay.
Good on them :)
i didn't get it for a at least 20 seconds...not the fact that Hooters is in FL and NV but the double-meaning (supposed. Perfect roadside billboard.
I give it five stars.
If you are old enough to figure it it out what is the problem? Of course, rumor has it that in FL they are opposed to teaching HS students about condoms...
It's Hooters for crying out loud! Exploitation began there, so what do you expect. From here on out, it's just creative advertising and a buzz builder.
Oh boy, I did this once!

The casino was celebrating it's third year with a Hooters. Man, I wish I'd been on the account for year two.
It perpetuates the idea that men think about sex alot, that's about it.
The thing I find most offensive is the perpetuation of word-play jokes. They're the worst attempt at humour ever!
I guess I have to give props to me myself!

my daddy always taught me to licker in the front and poker in the rear
Oh please, hasn't Hooters mantra has always been "tacky, yet unrefined"? Isn't that what we know them for? That and ghastly chicken wings? Unless you're going to stop the waitresses wearing those hideously small (did I mention tacky?) outfits and put them in smocks, you might as well enjoy the toilet humour.
I think it sums up the brand nicely. Then again, I wanted to sell Hooters on a "we look down on sexual harrassment" campaign.
Where's the Lysol? This bar phrase so old and moldy that I need to pull out the can and spray. C'mon, Hooters! Get fresh with your customers!
It is HOOTERS afterall... and the wording is perfectly harmless. Kudos to them for at least making me laugh!
